"I gotta go replace it"

note: just took a post frm my own blog, thought it might "liven" up this place a bit.

yup, ytd evening, i told my dad (who was cutting up pineapples, he loves them),"Pa, i have to replace it, i don't care."

my dad, with his mouth full of pineapple, muttered in reply, "huh? replace what?"

"my classical guitar string luh! u know it's so old it snapped by itself without me noticing!"

"but u don't play ur classical guitar often what, buy some other time luh."

but still, i insisted that he bring me to some ulu guitar shop to get new strings. yeah, true, i dun play my classical guitar often, most of the time i use my acoustic guitar with the nice sonorous metal strings. but i just feel awkward knowing that one of my guitars is incomplete, missing a string, the "D" string (3rd one) to b specific. yeah, i can still more or less play it, like some simple tunes frm it. but most of the time, i find my left finger pressing on some empty space where my string was supposed to be. i can still make some music, yes, but not as well, there's still sth missing.

this led me to think abt God in my life. our lives are just like the guitar. in order for a guitar to make good music, it will need to have all its 6 strings intact and perfectly tuned. a guitar missing a string is just like missing sth in our lives.
we still move on with our lives, which still can be considered colourful to a certain extent, but aftr a while, we feel some sort of emptiness in our lives. some of us might start asking abt the purpose of their lives and so on. i've experienced that. for years, my spiritual life has been as dry as a desert. i pray to God once in a while, mayb for 5 mins? and then that's it, to me, i believe in God, i let Him into my life, i open the doors of my life to Him, except for 1, the door to my personal life. it's as if i'm telling God, "Lord, i receive You into my life, but give me some privacy pls, dun touch my personal life. i can manage, believe me." that is not the way to treat my Father, He wants our everything including our personal life. well, i haven't really given my everything to Him. because of that, i cld feel myself drifting away frm my Lord day by day, i felt empty, felt that my life had lost its purpose. it turned out that i cldn't handle my personal life, my emotions quite well. i had one way or another rejected God frm my life, that string in my life had snapped even without me noticing. it is only recently that i rediscovered the goodness of the Lord and decided that frm that day onwards i will draw closer to Him and walk, once again, hand in hand with Him.

Gone are the days when i sit on that throne of my life. now, the Lord sits on the throne of my life. He is our Father, Creator, Saviour, He made us, so of course, with Him at the head of my life, all things that He wants me to do will be good for me. there is no reason for my Father to want to hurt me. why? He loves me that's why. I strayed away frm Him, but He didn't give up hope in me, instead He held me back to His side with His strong loving hand, and i'm glad for that.

do you haf a missing string in ur life? Turn to the Lord Jeus today. Even if u don't now, He will still be waiting for you. The Lord is good, and He is patient. He died on the cross for you and me, He loves you and He will wait, it is up to you to respond and experience His goodness, first-hand.

it's been a while since i blogged here....... actually it's been a while since i saw you guys together. the last time was that cg oasis i think.

the pics are nice!!! but i look so blur in some of them. anyway, thanks velda and julia for doing the collage.. good initiative and everything.

next cg will be led by julia and velda (i think). i don't know i'll confirm again and give you both a call if it's your turn. then jean and jac, then amith and daniel, i think.

ok, muahaha, i shall actually contribute to this blog. however, i do not know what to talk about. firstly, i want to thank wilko for the blog! it's so cool, seriously. we should have a combined blog for the whole CG(including the other side), but of course, ours would be so much cooler than theirs. :D

i don't know why i'm here blabbing all these nonsense, but i shall! haha! it's been ages. and i really mean like ages. like 3 years since i last typed some blog post or something. HEHEHE.
anyway, what is this Oasis thing about?

It's almost 1am now.

I'm supposed to be sleeping, but I might as well post first before I sleep.

Didn't know there's a CG Oasis coming up. A theme hasn't been set yet. This time, a theme is not set for us to follow, so we have to determine a theme ourselves. So aftr we have come up with the theme, we can actually decide how we are gg to conduct this whole oasis thing.

Hmm. I can't think of a theme actually. The previous time they had Narnia or sth and they made nice postcards which i thought were quite cool and useful. The last time they screened a movie, we can choose to do the same thing, but we can also choose to do sth new. I still think movie is the most effective in speaking to ppl, we can brainstorm on fresh ideas.

oh yah, there's sth even more impt than whatever we're gonna do for oasis. we have to wrk out our schedules. oasis is a cg thing, we're reaching out to those who don't know the Good News as a cg. so yeah, it'll b great if everyone can come. so pls get ur schedules ready by mayb this sunday or sth, then we can at least confirm the dates and get on wif other stuff. mayb u can post ur schedules, dunno lah, just make it known, haha. we want to do this as a cg, coz it is said that as more of us come together, God is in our midst, then we can reach out to the ppl... yeah...

ok, so most impt thing, confirmation of date, then what we're gg to do for cg oasis. then the committees blah blah and the time schedule... oh man, i think i shall stop here, i'm typing as if i'm planning for cca session, too caught up wif wrk le. so srry.

ok lah, if ur schedule is really packed (like mine), commit everything to the Lord and see what He says, He'll always make a way for u. Oasis is impt, to me, coz it's the time when we can really reach out and shine for God.

hey, shiying here! was invited here a while ago but did not really like click on all the various confirmation steps to get here. i forgot about this blog and then i saw wilkson today when i happened to be in NUS (helping a church member with his business, facilitating some sort of advertising services for him) and he said "eh, post on the blog leh" so i'm finally here! whee.

anyway, thanks wilk! for the birthday post. :)

how was everybody's easter weekend? mine was.. good and bad.

it was good because i felt like i attend two services over the weekend, a good friday service at the third place and the easter sunday service at tpmc. both of which i remember pretty clearly and spoke to me pretty distinctly. it was bad because my mother was having a big fit over some tiny things. growing up is really tough, i don't think it ever gets easier.

i loved how easter service was conducted at tpmc. the good ol' message just preached in its plainest form. sometimes i really don't get all the things like musicals and stuff, because it just doesn't speak to me as much. and to tell you the truth, sometimes when i attend charismatic events like Fusion or other events, when i see a big crowd of christian youths jumping up and down with their eyes closed and hands in the air and looking like they're in rapture, it kinda scares me. so i really appreciate it when i can hear the word and not go through all of those things....

ANYWAY, ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!!
1. CG this week at the same time, same place. Wilkson will be doing something with you because i will be in South Africa come Friday!!!!!
2. We will be doing a session of CG Oasis in April or May. I understand that those may be exam periods, we will discuss this again one day when we are all available to meet up.
3. Worship Team Recruitment! All interested parties please email me your names ASAP (everybeautifulday@gmail.c0m)
4. Planetshakers concert! TPMC has block booked a whole set of tickets so we can all go, I'm not sure if you need to pay and I'm not sure when the date is (sorry!!!) and i will maybe change this tomorrow.

Some incidents in school led me to ask myself this question: What have I been doing with myself for the past 22 years?

I look at the people around. Those who enjoyed singing come out with their own albums; Those who enjoyed dancing join competitions; Those who enjoyed photography freelance at studio; Those who like to design set up their own online stores; Those who enjoyed playing guitar form bands and perform in bars. Then I look at myself, what have I been doing with my gifts? Or do I have no gift? I don't know. Then it reminds me of Matthew 25:14-30, The Parable of the Talents. I'm like the worthless servent who didn't put his money to work. What is it that I'm afraid of? Losing what I'm having now. But may be whether I can return with five talents and another five more does not matter. May be it doesn't matter even if I loss all five. At the end of the day I could still tell my Master that I've tried.

Lord, please don't throw me out into the darkness.. Not yet, please.
